IWF Colleagues
The Steering Committee is happy to inform you about the developments of the Intelligent Transport Systems World Forum (IWF) after it was launched on 24th September 2009 during the ITS World Congress in Stockholm, Sweden. The meeting was concluded with a unanimous resolution to continue developing the IWF scope and structure offline; there is a lot of positive energy in supporting ITS and enhancing cooperation between ITS organizations and other interested parties worldwide.
Next steps
IWF is to be established by its members, national and regional ITS organizations, as a worldwide not-for-profit independent open minded organisation dedicated to the development and deployment of ITS improving transport mobility, safety and security and encouraging environmental sensitivity. It will be funded through annual membership subscriptions and sponsorships and will have its own legal entity. For the ideas establishing IWF we refer to the draft statutes.
An acting Steering Group consisting of ITS Arab, ITS Argentina, ITS Croatia, ITS&S Czech Republic, ITS Israel, TTS Italia, ITS Netherlands, ITS Spain and ITS South Africa take care of preparing legal entity, content and cooperation. They will facilitate a virtual network for you as interested IWF Member. Until now ITS Canada, ITS Denmark, ITS Mexico, ITS Norway, Til-ITS Euskadi and the International Congress of Industrials of Russia embrace this initiative of the IWF and have shown their interest to be part of this Forum.
We strongly believe that IWF will improve the development and deployment of ITS and encourage cooperation worldwide, and we really look forward to developing the IWF together with you and all other interested IWF members. More information about joining this Forum, please contact us info@its-wf.org.
IWF is initiated by Nico Anten, Connekt/ITS Netherlands, Mohammed Serroukh, ITS Arab and Paul Vorster, ITS South Africa
